Card Aging

A Kanban board is a great way to visualize a work process. You may get even more control over the project with the new Kanbanchi feature – Card aging.

What is Card aging?

When you create a card on a board, Kanbanchi starts tracking the time for it. Typically, a card has an activity and moves among work stages (lists). However, if the card is blocked and becomes a bottleneck, you definitely want to detect it and take action. Therefore, Kanbanchi adds indicators on cards with the help of which you will be able to track cards with the lack of activity.

Why do cards age?

Two reasons cause a card to age.

  • The card doesn’t change its location. It stays in the same list for too long.
  • The card has no changes or edits. It lacks activity which means nobody is working on the task.

Based on these reasons you may choose what specific data you’d like to see on the indicator: how much time the card has no changes or stays in the list.

Additionally, the lack of activity causes cards to gradually fade.

Card aging can be configured not only for the whole board but for each separate list. Therefore, you may decide which aging option is relevant for a list depending on the nature of the project.
